This year's business agenda focused on Kazakhstan's role in international energy value chains, oil and gas equipment manufacturing, export logistics, investment and digital transformation.
Of the 501 exhibiting companies, 187 represented Kazakhstan and 314 were international businesses. More than a third of exhibitors (34%) participated in KIOGE for the first time. National exhibitions were organised by Austria, Germany, India, Italy, China and Russia. Over three days, more than 280 B2B and G2B meetings were held, during which companies discussed equipment supplies, technology solutions and potential areas of cooperation.
From Upstream Operations to Gas Chemicals: Key Conference Topics
The International KIOGE Conference brought together 620 delegates. A total of 88 speakers from 12 countries participated in 13 events held as part of the business programme.
The plenary session centred on Kazakhstan's role in new energy value chains. Separate discussions addressed exploration and production, export routes, gas chemicals, oil and gas equipment manufacturing, and investment.
The technology agenda covered the application of artificial intelligence, automation of production processes, low-carbon development and climate regulation.
Hydrocarbon processing was discussed during the strategic session "Gas and Gas Chemicals: A Value-Processing Strategy", while investment prospects were explored at the panel session "Kazakhstan's Energy Future: Investment, Energy Transition and Strategic Opportunities".
Baker Hughes and Kazakhstani Company Sign Cooperation Memorandum
One of the concrete outcomes of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Baker Hughes and West Kazakhstan Machine Building Company JSC.
The memorandum concerns cooperation in localising the production of oil and gas equipment in Kazakhstan. Details of potential joint projects, investment volumes and implementation timelines have not been disclosed.
Localisation was also addressed in the conference programme alongside the development of oil and gas equipment manufacturing and petrochemicals.
Business Contacts and International Projects
In addition to the main conference, the exhibition hosted industry sessions and presentations involving QazaqGaz, NCOC, KPO, Tengizchevroil and other companies.
Sergey Shatskikh, Deputy Commercial Director of KAZENERGOCABLE JSC, reported that company representatives held negotiations during KIOGE, including discussions that resulted in preliminary agreements on future cooperation.
The business programme also featured a presentation of the 26th WPC Energy Congress (World Petroleum Congress), scheduled to take place in Astana on June 11-15, 2028.
Three Decades of KIOGE
In 2026, KIOGE marked its 30th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the organisers produced a documentary about the exhibition's history and a special publication, "KIOGE 30", featuring archival materials and recollections from oil and gas industry professionals.
A ceremony at Almaty Theatre brought together representatives of government bodies, oil and gas companies, and industry veterans.
The outcomes of KIOGE 2026 reflect the range of issues facing Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector, from developing production and export infrastructure to localising equipment manufacturing, advancing digitalisation and expanding hydrocarbon processing. However, the practical impact of the discussions will depend on how the agreements reached are implemented.
KIOGE 2026 was organised by Kazakhstan's exhibition company Iteca and its international partner ICA Events. The event was held with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Almaty City Akimat and industry organisations
